Little Wonders is a wonderful learning center located right here in Missouri City. This is where talent, imagination and professional skills are being dedicated to the teaching of our young children. We understand that children learn differently. Through observation and listening, we encourage each individual's unique learning styles; while focusing on their physical, educational and emotional needs. All of our teachers are professionally qualified with combined expertise in education, speech & hearing therapy, bilingual education and English as a Second Language. With a low student-teacher ratio, we provide your child with the attention they need. Little Wonders Learning Center is located at the corner of Lexington Blvd. and Dulles Ave. In this center, you will find a number of warm, loving teachers committed to putting children first. This isn't your ordinary day care facility.

Making Colors

Bishop came to school telling his class about what happened at home last night......
He was painting at home.  He had blue, red, and white paint.  All of a sudden, the red and white started running into each other and at first he got worried about it, but the next thing he knew something crazy happened!  When the colors mixed he yelled out!  "Look!  It's pink!"
He told his friends about the colors he used to make pink.  The children grabbed those colors, and yellow, because we can never get enough of yellow ;0) ...........and Bishop started showing everyone how he mixed the paints!
"Oh!  Look we made green!"
How fun it was to mix so many colors and watch them blend!
When we were done mixing, we used our new colors to make fish and faces!!!!!!
Color is one of the first things children use to make distinctions between things they see, and color words are some of the first words they use to describe what they see.  The children are growing up in a world filled with many shades and hues. By focusing on the colors around them as we engage in everyday activities — painting, playing with clay, drawing with crayons — we can help the children learn how to use color as a means for learning in the areas of language, math, science, and art. All the basic skills of vocabulary, description, sorting, matching, observing, and experimenting are inherent to color learning.

Children from Little Wonders Learning Center plant trees.

LITTLE WONDERS SHARES THE MESSAGE TO GO GREEN – Children from Little Wonders Learning Center are going green in a big way by planting trees for “Trees Across Sugar Land,” making compost piles, picking up trash for”Texas trash off” and visiting the recycling center to drop off collected items. These inspiring 3- to 5-year-olds have even won art contests using recyclable materials and trash. After taking a class field trip to see the movie Earth, the children were so inspired they raised enough money to adopt a polar bear family. Their latest project involves helping with the water crisis. They have raised enough money to send one of their own parents to Guatemala to build a well with Living Water International.

The Next Iron Chefs: Secret Ingredient - PUMPKIN!

It looks like we currently have a cooking class at Little Wonders!  Our little chefs have been busy the past week preparing two dishes with pumpkin....
First we toasted pumpkin seeds....
Everyone tasted the pumpkin seeds, but Phoenix and Bishop LOVED them.......
After we cooked pumpkin seeds, we were eager to cook something else with pumpkins.  We had been reading the book Pumpkin Soup, so we took our chances and made some!
We scooped out the seeds, seasoned the pumpkin, and put it to bake in the oven.
Then we got to reading to see what else we needed to make the soup.
We read all of the ingredients, we can even recognize the letters on the labels of the foods we used.  With the help of our teachers, we cut up potatoes and onions.

We used the cream, which Hendrix called four, so we actually got out flour to see the difference between flour and cream!  The flour felt so good in our hands and we loved playing with it!  In fact, it was so fun that it wound up all over the kitchen ;0)
When we were done, Phoenix helped clean the door! ;0)
Mmmmm look at our tasty soup!  It was actually so delicious!  Everyone loved it, but the one who loved it the most was Hendrix, he actually came back for seconds!

When their class was done eating, they were nice enough to let the other classes taste it!  Phoenix was a great server! ;0)
It really was delicious, we have the recipe in case anyone is interested!  Your little ones can help you cook it at home!

the well

the last day at the village the team assembled the pump for the well. the village will be celebrating their new well for weeks to come & they started the huge celebration right after the pump was installed for all the team's hard work. the people of the village were so thankful that they planned a wonderful celebration with music, gifts & families from the village made speech's about how wonderful the team was & everything they accomplished for their people. the village built a palm alter around the well before the team got their that morning to surprise them & thank goodness they didn't have to tear it down to build the pump because as you can see it is beautiful. all the children were trying to peek through the palms as the team was finishing the well to see what it looked like, everyone was very excited. after the ribbon cutting one of the older women of the village couldn't wait to be the first to taste the clean water. what an amazing experience to be a part of, something that i know paul will never forget & he's so thankful that he got to be a part of it!!!
