Little Wonders is a wonderful learning center located right here in Missouri City. This is where talent, imagination and professional skills are being dedicated to the teaching of our young children. We understand that children learn differently. Through observation and listening, we encourage each individual's unique learning styles; while focusing on their physical, educational and emotional needs. All of our teachers are professionally qualified with combined expertise in education, speech & hearing therapy, bilingual education and English as a Second Language. With a low student-teacher ratio, we provide your child with the attention they need. Little Wonders Learning Center is located at the corner of Lexington Blvd. and Dulles Ave. In this center, you will find a number of warm, loving teachers committed to putting children first. This isn't your ordinary day care facility.

Gardening

Parents,

We are so excited about our plant project, that we are going to let the preschool class be in charge of the fall harvest! They are learning so much, and we love to use the environment as a teacher. We will incorporate the gardening into our project.

The children can bring a vegetable or herb plant to school by Monday. On Tuesday, if the weather permits, we will put on our gardening gloves and go to work! Parents are welcome to join in and participate. We will probably begin around 4:00 pm.

For more information, there is a letter posted on the classroom door.

Where do seeds come from?

One day we were talking about plants, and we asked the kids, "How do the plants grow?" The children said, "SEEDS!!!!"
When we asked, "Where do the seeds come from?", we got no response! ;0)
We started reading these books to help us try to figure out ....................

We cut open some fruit in class, and guess what we found inside!!!!!

SEEDS!!!!!!

We also have been slowly getting our garden ready for our fall planting. As we were doing the weeding, we found seeds inside of the basil plants!

Through these experiences, we are really learning so much about plants! Stay tuned.....soon we will be planting seeds in our room, as well as in our garden.

Making Flowers

Our flower project is going great! We are "hands on" with the flowers, and this is really helping us understand so much more about them.

We are now understanding the different parts of the flowers: the stem, leaves, petals, etc.

Here, we are looking at one of the flowers in our class. We know these flowers are planted in dirt and they need water to grow. We like the orange flowers and the green leaves, so we are making our own versions of the plant.

We used crayons to draw our flowers, and then we got orange and green tissue to finish them off!

Flowers

As our flower project is continuing, we are understanding more and more about flowers!

We have been reading books on flowers, and we have looked at fake flowers in class. Today we each chose a color for our flower, cut petals out of tissue, and glued them on our flowers we drew. We talked about the different colors every one chose, and we counted all of our petals!

To take the project to the next level..............we brought in REAL flowers! We touched the dirt they grow in, we smelled them, we touched the leaves and petals, we talked about the colors of the flowers, and then we drew flowers again!

But now our art has so much more detail and meaning! Now that we have experienced the real flowers, we are adding much more into our pictures. Our art should be up soon for you to see!

Flowers

We are stuck on animals, we love to look in the books and see what the animals are doing in all of the pictures. We talk about what the animal needs to eat, what it drinks, and what it does.

One day we were looking at the animals and one of the children said, "The animals need flowers"! We brought in fake flowers for the kids to explore, and we started drawing and cutting our own flowers..........

We took our flowers and glued them on the big piece of paper....

Here is a sneak peak of our creation! We are slowly adding all of the animals we think should enjoy our flowers.

We Love Math!

We are counting everything we can in class! We love to put together the puzzle of numbers. We like to work together and do it.

We even like to open our books and count everything we see.....

Matthew and Will were counting how many blocks they could stack........

Matthew even helped his friend Luke count!
