Little Wonders is a wonderful learning center located right here in Missouri City. This is where talent, imagination and professional skills are being dedicated to the teaching of our young children. We understand that children learn differently. Through observation and listening, we encourage each individual's unique learning styles; while focusing on their physical, educational and emotional needs. All of our teachers are professionally qualified with combined expertise in education, speech & hearing therapy, bilingual education and English as a Second Language. With a low student-teacher ratio, we provide your child with the attention they need. Little Wonders Learning Center is located at the corner of Lexington Blvd. and Dulles Ave. In this center, you will find a number of warm, loving teachers committed to putting children first. This isn't your ordinary day care facility.

The Texas Snowman!

So who says you can't build a snowman in 80 degree weather?????
The genius children here at little wonders came up with the idea of freezing water balloons!  We made "a small, large, and big" size water balloon.
We peeled the balloon off, and we were left with 3 balls of ice!

We read in a book that salt would help make the ice stick together.  Many children tried to hold the ice, but they started crying once the ice got their hands cold, so Bishop and Luke took the initiative to pour the ice and hold the balls of ice in place!
Okay, two balls in place, now for the third.........
The ice wasn't really sticking well together, so Alexandre said, "I know!! We can use glue!" ;0)
hmmmmm........ lets see if the glue works.........
We weren't so lucky with the glue, so Bishop poured more salt, aka "sauce"!
Luke was a master at holding the ice!  The cold didn't phase him at all!!!!
But what a tragedy......our snowman crashed with all the glue and salt we poured on it!  Of course our children didn't give up!  We stacked the ice right back on top of each other.
Now the snowman needed eyes, so the children tried to DRAW the eyes and buttons on with a marker!
That didn't work, so Alexandre drew some, cut them and tried to stick them on.
The children grabbed q-tips for the hands and feet!
Some of us were so excited that they wanted to draw some snowmen.
While, the others tried and tried to keep our snowman together, he kept melting away and breaking :0(   We took the snowman outside and watched him melt away in our "hot temperature" (Ashley reminded everyone why ice melts)
But fear not!!!  This is not the end of our quest to make a snowman in "warm temperatures"!  We will keep you updated on how our experimentation goes!

SNAKES GOING IN THE HOLES

The children have become fascinated with snakes, since their neighbors have started a big snake project.  They were talking about how snakes were hiding and going in holes, so we brought in a piece of wire mesh and the children started making "the snakes go in the holes"!
This kept them busy for hours and hours!  We worked on this project for over a week!
Now that the children are done, it has become a beautiful art piece!  We love it so much that we are keeping it in our room as a permanent display!

Sam & Target

Yes!  The children of Little Wonders officially have pets!  We have adopted "Sam" and "Target"!!!  How can you not LOVE the names of our new little turtles????  Isn't it funny that these are the names the children came up with?  We absolutely LOVE it!
Sam is the small one, and Target is the bigger turtle.  They were donated by Ms. Fauzia!  Dimi and Ereeni's family donated the tank, and Hendrix brought in some big rocks for them.

The children, according to licensing, are not allowed to hold them, so they will be cared for by the teachers and any parent who volunteers over holidays.
The children will be able to observe them and learn about the responsibilities of caring for animals.

Aren't they so super cute??
The children helped clean and wash the new tank for them......
When the tank was clean, we put rocks and gravel in it.......
And then we put Sam and Target in......
The children LOVE them!  They are located by the art studio.  The children can say good morning and good evening to them when they come in and leave!
None of the staff have any real experience with turtles, so we welcome any advice, materials, or anything else that might make our turtles happy!

Hopefully Little Wonders will keep Sam and Target happy for many years to come!!!!
