Honey Make My Morining Muffins

Honey Make My Morning MuffinsThese muffins were easy to make like the recipe said, but ours came out extra moist because Jonathan put our whole pan of muffins into the sink and turned the water on!!!!!!!  So we had a tad more extra liquid than the recipe called for! ;0)

These muffins are easy to make and they are very moist.

Makes 10-12 muffins

1/2 cup milk
1/4 cup honey
1 egg, beaten
2-1/2 cups buttermilk baking mix
In a medium bowl, combine milk, honey and beaten egg; mix well. Add baking mix and stir until moistened. Spoon into greased muffin tins. Bake at 400°F for 18 - 20 minutes.



We all helped make the recipe.............

Jack especially liked smashing the egg open with the spoon!  That was fun ;0)  It took a few minutes to get the egg shells out of the bowl!

But when we were good to go, he got to stirring.........

and so did the rest of us..........

we all greased the pan......

filled up the muffin tins,.........

and then topped our beautiful Morning Muffins with honey and butter............. MMMMMMMMMMMmmmmmmmmmmm

Only one out of our whole class did not eat the muffins!  They were extra moist thanks to Jonathan ;0)  And we highly recommend everyone trying out this delicious simple recipe for themselves at home.  If you need help, you have an expert at the house to help you!!!!

Some of us liked them so much that we ate two at a time!

Investigating the Bumble Bee

We never get tired of bumble bees!  We are so interested in them, that we are filling our room with books about bees, watching videos on how they live and make honey, spelling words about bees, and of course making creative art pieces ..........

Look at some of the bees we made!  Ryan and Ella worked together to make a sign that says "BEES" for all of the bees.......

The children said they need a "BIG" bee, so we created 3 separate art areas with materials to make the parts of the bee.

First we had these materials for the eyes.......

These materials were for the wings.

These materials were for the body..........

We were so excited when we saw everything, that we got straight to work....

We are working very hard on our cutting technique! ;0)

Raina needed help with the wings.  The children needed to manipulate the materials and weave them in the wings so that they would stay on.  Raina's kept falling when we picked up the wings.  So of course, her good friend Jack came to the rescue!

He showed Raina how to do it ;0)

And the children loved gluing all of the shiny beads on the big eyes!

Now our "queen bee" is flying over our castle with her small bumble bees behind her!  It is just as the children wanted!  The bees are trying to get in the castle, but they haven't succeeded yet!

After we watched a National Geographic video on the bee, we drew pictures of the bees making honey!

Lucky for us our friends Devyn and Jack brought in some honey!  We tasted it on our crackers and we all agreed that the honey is delicious!

We also spent some time in the art studio with Ms. Marjon.  She showed us pictures of bees and we worked one on one with her to create "bee masterpieces"!

We are excited to know that there is actually a National Honey Board!  We are starting to research the site http://www.honey.com/ for recipes and information on bees and honey.  We have even found different opportunities for children on these sites, however, they are for older children.  That will not stop us from trying to get our children involved!!!! ;0)  Maryam is working on contacting different people in the organization to see if they will provide our children with materials.  Our children may be young, but we all know they are capable of doing things that older children do!
